In a medium saucepan, bring water or broth to a boil.
Stir in rice, garlic, and salt. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed.
Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork.
Stir in butter (if using), shredded cheese, and dried parsley until creamy and well combined.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm with your favorite protein or veggies!
