Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly, to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly whisk in the hot sauce until smooth.
Add the brown sugar, honey (if using), garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes, whisking often, until thick and glossy.
Remove from heat and let sit 2 minutes to thicken further.
Taste and add a pinch of salt if needed. Serve warm.
