Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 3/4 cup cane sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and cane sugar. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking 2-3 minutes until fully incorporated and the mixture is glossy.
  3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the bowl. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to over mix to maintain a fudgy texture.
  4. Add the chocolate chips and fold them in evenly to distribute throughout the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center appears slightly underdone. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs for that perfect gooey texture.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely. Once cooled, cut them into 9 squares (or more for smaller portions) and serve.

Notes

  • For extra gooey brownies, bake closer to 20 minutes. For a slightly firmer texture, bake up to 25 minutes.
  • Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty twist.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the fridge for up to a week.
